Day 47

Day 47
October 24, 2015

My ride took me through some beautiful low country and Gulf coast area.  I left Pascagoula, Mississippi around 7:30 in the morning and headed to Dauphin Island, Alabama.  From there I took the ferry across the mouth of Mobile Bay over to Fort Morgan which is on the western tip of the Gulf Shores area.  I ended the day in Gulf Shores Alabama.  Our family vacationed here for many years as part of an annual family reunion gathering hosted by “Grandbonnie” and “Pow.”  Since Marilyn could not take the RV across the ferry her route took her up and around Mobile Bay and down highway 59 from I-10.  As she drove into Gulf Shores she passed familiar sites like “The Track” arcade and “Waterville.”   At dinner tonight we drove up to Orange Beach and passed “Summerhouse” which is where we stayed for many years.  Our restaurant choice was next to “Adventure Island,” the putt-putt course where many competitive games were played.

All these memories were fun for Marilyn and me to enjoy.  Tomorrow, I will leave the coast as I head up and through Pensacola to Crestview, Florida.  I am hopeful that I will also leave the headwinds.  Once again, I’ll get an early start to put in as many miles as possible ahead of the strong winds.
