Day 7
Day 7
September 14
Today is our first rest day in Boise, Idaho and a very welcomed one at that. Marilyn and I were sad to say goodbye to our Water Cycle companions from Seattle: Pete and Darcy Welch and Tom Garren. Six days on the road with these wonderful folks set the perfect stage for the rest of the trip. We were abel to work out some of the logistical kinks and, of course, enjoyed the fellowship immensly. We already miss them!
We began our "rest day" with a very busy schedule. In the morningh Marilyn worked to clean and organize the RV while I ran errands and picked up some needed supplies for the next stage. After lunch we both began catching up on office work. It's been interesting, but not surprising, that we find very little leisure in each day. During the ride days we rise very early, fix breakfast and begin the process of getting ready to be on a bike all day. I typically start riding between 7 - 7:30am. After I leave the RV Marilyn immediately goes to work preparing to mobilze to the next destination. We are finding that during the extreme heat days that a support every 20 miles works well to keep me fueled througout the day. After lunch Marilyn moves on ahead to set up the RV then, in most cases, will return back with the tow vehicle to provide support stops for the afternoon. We worked through this system from Seattle to Boise while having the luxury of an extra vehicle and fellow travelers. Now we are ready to try it on the next stage with just Marilyn and me.
The next stage is a shorter stage as we head from Boise, Idaho to Jackson, Wyoming. I will be crossing over Teton pass on this stage which will be challenging but equally beautiful - will post photos. After a rest day in Jackson we will begin a long stage down to Fort Collins, Colorado where we look forward to spending a few days with Robert.
We are also finding that God keeps connecting us with the right people at the right time all along the way. So many prayers of care and support for us on this journey continue to sustain us and we see it in full view each day. This does not mean the journey is necessarily easy but that God sustains and provides sufficient for what we need. Thank you for your prayers!
